St. John's Wort is most commonly used to treat mild to moderate depression as well as seasonal affective disorder, as it contains hypericin, hyperferin and flavonoids. It is thought to increase the availability of neurotransmitters in the brain such as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine.
