Cornflower is named such because of its growth in corn fields. Historically, in agriculture, cornflower is considered an omen of fortune. It is also called Bachelor’s Button. As lore has it, bachelors and possibly bachelorettes wore cornflowers upon their breast to signify their status and eligibility for marriage. Cornflower represents the fortuitous nature of surprise in success, prosperity and love. Yet, it gently reminds us that our greatest prosperity comes from is within and assists us in developing that virtue.
